Garlock Sealing Technologies, LLC, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Saturday. According to court reports, the industrial gaskets and sealing systems company filed for bankruptcy in a North Carolina court.

Garlock apparently was forced into bankruptcy because of a number of asbestos-related personal injury lawsuits. Bankruptcy protection may give the company the opportunity to handle its lawsuits and obligations owed to creditors.
